Refurbishment & extension of a gamekeepers cottage to create a highly insulated, low energy 4 bedroom house.

 

With no aspect to the Southerly views an extension to the South of the existing house was proposed

A new entrance and stairwell link connecting the extension to the existing building. The existing cottage has been re-configured to provide only sleeping and bathroom accommodation with the extension providing the living, kitchen and dining space.

Cedar shingles were chosen to clad the extension to provide a visual link to the existing building.

A ground-source heat pump with heat store provides the under floor central heating and hot water supply.
